Who can use the service? Any resident of Chelan, Douglas, Ferry, Grant, or Okanogan County with a valid NCRL library card.
NCRL’s Mail Order Library provides direct library service to rural residents of our 5-county service area and to card holders unable to use their local libraries because of scheduling or transportation issues. If you don’t already have a library card, you can get one at any branch library, by contacting the Mail Order Library at mailorder@ncrl.org, or by calling 1-800-426-READ (7323) or 509-663-1117.
What’s available? Books, audio and video recordings. If it’s available in the Regional Library collection, it can be delivered to your home or office.
Each edition of NCRL’s Mail Order catalog lists titles added to the Mail Order collection over a 3- to 4-month period. The printed catalog is distributed automatically to all rural box holders, is posted to the NCRL web page in PDF format, and may be obtained at any Regional Library location or by calling the Mail Order Library at 1-800-426-READ (7323) or 509-663-1117.
Items selected from the Mail Order catalog may reach you more quickly, but material from NCRL’s branch libraries can also be mailed.
How do I order? Orders may be placed on-line or by mail, e-mail, or telephone.
Fill out an order card and drop it in the mail, call 1-800-426-READ (7323) or 509-663-1117 to order by phone, or send an e-mail to mol@ncrl.org. Please include your name, address, and library card number and the catalog numbers or titles of the items you’d like to receive.
To order on-line, type an author, title or subject in the catalog search on the NCRL home page and click “Find”. Once you’ve identified a title you’d like to order, click on “Request Item”, log in with your library card number and PIN, and then select Mail Order Library as your pick-up location. Clicking “Request” on the Confirmation page completes the process and reveals your position on the waiting list.
How long can I keep what I borrow? Most books are loaned for approximately one month, audio and video recordings for shorter periods. A receipt mailed with the item(s) will give the due date(s).
How do I return my order when I’m finished? You can mail items back or return them to any convenient NCRL location.
Your order will be mailed in a zippered bag that can be used for return shipment. Simply turn over the address label and place the bag in the mail. No postage is necessary.
Returning your order to a nearby branch library helps reduce costs. Many branch libraries have outside returns you can use when the library is not open.
