Check Out A Backpack and Discover Pass!

Nature backpacks with the Washington State Discover Pass will be available for checkout starting Aug. 26 at most libraries in Grant, Okanogan and Ferry counties.

The backpacks can be reserved online or by calling your local library.  They can then be picked up from our contact-free curbside pickup between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m. on the days that a library is normally open.

The backpacks contain a variety of items to help you explore nature, including binoculars, a viewing lens, a bug jar, a compass, and identification guides. They will also have a Washington State Discover Pass, a parking pass that will grant you free access to many state recreation lands, and a state parks map to help you decide where to go.

The backpacks with passes can be checked out for up to 14 days. A written form must be filled out at pickup to check out the backpack, and children under the age of 16 must also have a parent's permission slip filled out.

Starting in early September, additional Discover Passes will be available for checkout without backpacks. NCW Libraries has 55 passes in all that will be available for checkout with a library card.
